The Honourable Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana (Namibia)
The Honourable Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana
is the first woman Attorney General of the Republic of Namibia,
and a lawyer by profession. She is the founding member and
first woman Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sport and
the former Minister of Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation
and has a long history of advocacy and involvement in the
women and sport movement. Minister Iivula-Ithana has been
a Co-Chair of the International Working Group on Women and
Sport (IWG) since its creation in 1994, Chairperson of the
Namibia and Africa Constitution Draft Committee on Women in
Sport, and founding member and first President of both the
African Women in Sport Association (AWISA) and the Namibian
Women in Sport Association (NAWISA). She was also the organizer
of the Second World Conference on Women in Sport held in May
1998 in Windhoek, Namibia. |
