PRE-CONFERENCE EVENT: CAAWS SKILLS DAY
The Canadian Association for the Advancement
of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) is a not-for
profit organization working to encourage girls and women
to participate and lead in sport and physical activity.
Immediately prior to the Conference, CAAWS
is offering a professional development day tailored to women,
including a welcome session to share Canadian Leadership
success stories. This will be followed by ten workshops
including: conflict resolution, effective communication,
time management, expectations of women in leadership, recruiting
volunteers, getting the media to support your cause, presentation
skills and confidence building, how to organize an effective
meeting, working effectively with men, and mentoring-succession
planning. Participants will have the opportunity to choose
four workshops to attend. Click
here for workshop description.
The information presented in these sessions
will help participants develop or enhance their personal
leadership skills. All workshop presenters will provide
written material from their session and all Skills Day participants
will receive the written material from all ten sessions.
Some of the CAAWS Skills Day workshops will be offered in
both English and French. One may be offered in Spanish.
Participants are also invited to a reception
on the evening of May 15. This will provide an opportunity
to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones prior
to the CAAWS workshops.
